Our ocean-bound adventure began precisely at 3:30 PM (WITA) from Kayangan Harbor. After a smooth registration process at Kayangan Gateway, my first step onto the Golden Island Cruise instantly erased all doubts. As the sun descended, painting the ocean in shades of gold, purple, and fiery orange, every trace of travel fatigue vanished—replaced by pure awe. Sitting silently at the summit with fellow travelers, we collectively honored the grandeur of nature. Dinner that night was served on deck, under countless stars, accompanied by the soft rhythm of the waves—a perfect ending as the boat sailed overnight toward our next destination.
Day two was the pure definition of exhilaration. We woke before sunrise, driven by anticipation for what would become a once-in-a-lifetime experience: swimming with whale sharks in Saleh Bay. Cruising through the darkness toward this secret location felt like a special mission.
As the sun slowly emerged, the moment arrived. Jumping into the cool water, we were greeted by gentle ocean giants. Swimming alongside whale sharks, peaceful and majestic, was an experience beyond words. This rare interaction with nature made us feel incredibly small, yet deeply connected to the vastness of the sea—an emotional and spiritual awakening.
After an energizing breakfast, the ocean surprised us once again with a joyful spectacle: dolphin watching in Sumbawa waters. Our boat became the front-row stage as pods of dolphins leaped, raced, and danced alongside us. It was another reminder that Indonesia’s seas are an endless playground of wonders.
Midday brought a refreshing pause at Tambora Waters, where crystal-clear seas invited us to swim and relax. Coffee, tea, and snacks followed before a hearty lunch. The afternoon sail carried us deeper toward Komodo, with dramatic island silhouettes rising from the blue ocean—each moment on deck feeling incredibly precious.
Before sunrise, we arrived at Loh Liang, Komodo Island. Trekking through dry forests and savanna alongside experienced park rangers, we encountered Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. These ancient reptiles radiate prehistoric power, and seeing them up close was both thrilling and humbling. We were also fortunate to spot other endemic wildlife within this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After the adrenaline rush, total relaxation awaited us at one of the world’s geological wonders: Pink Beach. Its soft rose-colored sand—formed from crushed red foraminifera coral blended with white sand—is truly unique. The calm waters were perfect for snorkeling, resembling a giant natural aquarium filled with healthy coral reefs and colorful tropical fish. It was the ideal place to unwind and soak in unmatched beauty.
In the late afternoon, we headed to the most iconic viewpoint of all: Padar Island. The one-hour hike to the summit was challenging but absolutely worth it. From the top, we witnessed one of the world’s most spectacular landscapes—three bays with different sand colors (white, black, and pink) glowing under the golden sunset light. The dramatic panorama left everyone speechless, filled with gratitude for the journey.
That evening, back on the boat, we enjoyed a relaxed onboard celebration. Fellow travelers—now close friends—shared stories, laughter, music, and light dancing. Falling asleep on the gently swaying boat, surrounded by nature and memories, was the most perfect ending imaginable
